~A Healing Circles Event~
held at
Bauman College: Holistic Nutrition and Culinary Arts, Berkeley
(Rescheduled from January, and registration has re-opened!)
A contribution of $75 or more (to support the scholarship fund) is requested
This event promises to advance your understanding and experience of how taste and flavor encourages sustainable nutrition. Rebecca Katz, founder and director of the Healing Kitchens Institute at Commonweal will be our leader for the day, supported by Dr. Anna O’Malley of the Coastal Health Alliance and core HKI faculty Chef Catherine McConkie.
We will begin the workshop with a group circle where you will be invited to explore your relationship with a cornucopia of colorful whole foods, and your expectations around taste and flavor. Then, we will form small groups to prepare recipes that use these ingredients. Once a dish is ready, we will use the “taste and adjust” approach to experience how certain seasonings can be added to make a dish more appealing to a personal palate.
With this bounty of delicious food, we will join together for a buffet lunch, share our experiences and discuss how we take what we have learned to build healing food circles in our own communities.
We look forward to having you join us. There are 32 openings for this workshop and we anticipate that it will fill rapidly.
Registration
Because of the cost of food and additional support for this workshop, we are requesting a contribution of at least is $75/person for the workshop. Partial scholarships are available.
If you can make a donation to the scholarship fund, in addition to the $75 fee for the class, to allow others to attend who might not be able to otherwise, please go to our paypal page and name the amount that you are willing to donate.
