Healing Circles: Death and Dying Workshop
~Workshop is being offered at no cost; donations to cover our costs are appreciated~
Please join us for this next workshop in our Healing Circles series: this time exploring the subject of death and dying.
We are delighted and honored to have BJ Miller MD, Executive Director of Zen Hospice in San Francisco, and Betsy MacGregor, MD, author of In Awe of Being Human: A Doctor’s Stories from the Edge of Life and Death, joining us in conversation and exploration of this topic.
Dr. Miller, who will be with us for the morning, uses his years of medical training and practice to support his efforts to combine social and medical models into a more comprehensive approach to caring for those of us nearing death. His great hope, by tending to this fraught and concentrated phase of life, is to mitigate our existential angst and better allow our community to life fully until death.
Dr. MacGregor, who will be with us for the afternoon, worked in a busy city hospital for nearly three decades. She loved caring for seriously ill patients as a staff pediatrician, an adolescent medicine specialist, and as a caregiver and researcher in adult end-of-life care.
In Awe of Being Human: A Doctor’s stories from the Edge of Life and Death is a physician’s reflection on living, healing and dying set amidst the challenging world of hospitals and hospices, the medical professionals who work in them, and the ever-present mystery of life and death.
Please bring a bag lunch and everything you need to accommodate your meal.
We offer these remarkable learning opportunities without any fee—but we welcome and depend upon your contributions and support, please be generous as you can afford to be. You may donate on our registration page or bring your contributions to the trainings.
