“The sky is the daily bread of the eyes.”  —Emerson

The sky is the daily bread of my imagination—always there, ever-changing, never static, vast, wonderous, soul-nourishing, full of mystery and awe.

The sky is a visual way to think about life—and to keep perspective on our own experience. It’s so much greater than the sum of its myriad parts, overarching everything, seductive with the constant movement of the atmosphere, enchanting as it keeps us engaged in the present moment.

Every day, every moment, I am reminded that life itself is constantly shifting and never stagnant.

I’m always in a state of curiosity, looking up, out, and beyond… observing the play of light, color, and movement of the atmosphere.

The sunset… is totally different a minute later. A storm is coming…the wind picks up, the clouds darken and race… nothing is ever static. And it can put us in a state of wonder.

It’s ephemeral, evocative, flowing, moody. Never dull, never boring, always in motion. It’s daring. Catch me if you can!

My paintings are my way of expressing my enchantment, universes of atmosphere, evocative layers of light, mood, color, and texture.

I’ve spent a good part of my life as a chef/author feeding and nourishing people. Today I’m coming full circle here at Commonweal, having started as a cook in the Commonweal Cancer Help Program nearly 20 years ago.

Paint is my primary palette now and I’m still seeking to nourish people, with awe, beauty, and wonder. I hope you’ll explore and feel nourished on a deep level. Find out more about my work on my website.
