The Innovative Learning and Living Institute (ILALI) supports the resilience and transformation of communities through immersive, transformative residential programs. Beginning in 2023, the ILALI piloted two separate four-month long residency programs to cohorts of young adults ages 20-25 from the Seattle region and those from the Hudson Valley region of New York.
ILALI’s program is a groundbreaking endeavor for those who seek a unique opportunity to belong to a close knit community of peers, to bridge cultural world views, and to become engaged and empowered. Young people from the same region but of different economic, ideological, and cultural backgrounds reside at a retreat center for several months to live, learn, serve, and grow together. Participants come to know themselves as the continuation of a historical legacy of creative and passionate young adults – instrumental to the energy and innovation of civic life.
