Social Artist in Residence Program (SOAR)

If you are a social artist, Commonweal is inviting you and your shelter-in-place “podmates” to stay at the amazingly quiet and inspiring Commonweal Retreat Center. Black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) organizers, activists, and community leaders engaged in front-line work are especially encouraged.

You will have one of our retreat center houses to yourself from a Wednesday thru Sunday (or a portion of that time) at no charge. We hope this time in nature at our retreat center in the Pt Reyes National Park will give you the time and space for relaxation and contemplation.

If you are interested, please fill out the application form below (don’t write too much; a few sentences will be enough). After the retreat, we will ask you to send us a paragraph about the experience of staying at Commonweal.

Please note that the SOAR program is currently on hold while we are in the process of opening the Commonweal Retreat Center. If you apply, we will be in touch with you in the near future regarding availability. Thanks again for your interest.
